Job Description

The Client Accountant, working from our office in Crewe, will deliver consistent high quality accounting and tax work to timescales agreed both with the client and internally within Beans. This person manages the day to day relationship with their portfolio of clients covering all account and tax queries, record requirements and client questions and advice. This person is responsible for the complete annual statutory, accounting and tax cycle for their clients and for keeping internal systems and internal staff fully updated with progress and ensuring that weekly timesheets are submitted. This is a full-time position.

Key Requirements

Duties

  • Delivery of draft sole trader tax returns and accounts, VAT and limited company accounts and corporation tax returns in draft with supporting full bank reconciliation and analysis for the reviewer.
  • Filing of all tax returns, annual returns, accounts and corporation tax returns on line via CCH software.
  • Regular timely scheduling of draft work reviews and sign off.
  • Manage the service delivery schedule and IT process map via receipt bank, Twinfield and Ezora with own clients.
  • Regular tax and accounting questions via Taxwise and HMRC helplines.
  • Day to day contact with HMRC as client agent and with Companies house on client issues needing prompt resolution and then feedback of resolution to the client.
  • Responsibility for attending scheduled training courses and managing own professional development.
  • Full accountability to the SSC manager and practice manager for review scheduling, identifying milestone risks, timely timesheet submission and budgeting issues.
  • Visiting with clients as timetabled and providing ongoing financial and tax information and advice.
  • Maintaining accounting records and preparing accounts, tax returns and management information for clients.
  • Preparing client financial statements, including monthly and annual accounts to a strict monthly timetable
  • Preparing financial management reports both on line and in paper form, including financial planning and forecasting when appropriate
  • Developing a strong knowledge of Beans, its services (both in house and provided by its partners and affiliates)
  • Agree the annual delivery schedule with clients.
  • Understanding and communicating key messages by reading the weekly newsletter and following and contributing to social media feeds for the Company.
  • Adhere to Company health and safety policies and practices.
  • Management and presentation of all internal finance and monthly reporting for Beans with support from the Practice manager
Person Specification

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Part qualified accountant studying at or above level 3 AAT
  • Strong double entry bookkeeping ability
  • Some tax experience – both corporate and personal
  • Good VAT knowledge including VAT schemes
  • Ability to demonstrate an objective but persuasive opinion within a team
  • Experience in a similar role in an accountancy environment
  • Awareness of the provisions of the Data Protection Act and be able to apply these within the organisation
  • Microsoft Office [Word, Excel, Outlook] to an intermediate level
  • Good level of competence in computerised accounting software such as Xero or(Sage)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Must have ability to work well within a team
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Professional and amenable at all times
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and deadlines
